This place is amazing! I travel a lot, but this is a little paradise. You wake up with a view of the garden and mountains. There is silence around, you eat a good breakfast and go for a walk around the beautiful village. Then you spend time on the terrace. Flowers, books and tea. The owners are friendly, caring, help with everything. I spent a week here and it was a time of peace and quiet. From Leh every day at 8am there is a bus to Diskit, you arrive at 2pm and at 2:30pm there is a bus from Diskit to Sumoor. Returning is just as easy. 8-8:30am from Sumoor to the fork in the road, there you wait for the bus that goes from Diskit to Leh. I mention this because it is worth spending a few days in this beautiful place where you feel simply wonderful!!!! ~ Lukasz C

We stayed in this home stay for 2 nights - 30/31st July, 2026. I may return here just to taste khambir roti and butter tea again. Just to nitpick - in room number 101 we had to kick the bathroom door to close it properly from the inside and the water tap in the bathroom's washbasin was loose. Otherwise everything else about this homestay deserves a 5-star rating. The owner (ex army captain), his ever-smiling diminutive wife and their handyman Sandeep made our stay enjoyable. I used to barge into the kitchen and ask Sandeep to make butter tea. On his advice I bought special Ladakhi tea to prepare butter tea at home in Kolkata. By the way, according to the owner, "De Khama" means "this house" in local expression. ~ Amitabha D

The property is exactly as shown in the pictures. It is beautifully maintained, especially considering its remote location. The owner and staff are incredibly kind, humble, and welcoming, making our stay even more memorable. The rooms were spotless, and the overall hygiene and cleanliness were excellent. We had a beautiful view of the Himalayas from our room, along with a lovely garden just outside, which added to the peaceful atmosphere. The food was delicious, and the hosts went the extra mile by preparing fresh Palak Paneer for us using spinach picked straight from their garden. It was a wonderful and thoughtful touch that made us feel truly at home. This is a fantastic property with exceptional hospitality. If you're planning to visit the Nubra Valley, I highly recommend staying here—you won't be disappointed. ~ Priya R

The Perfect Place to Relax in Nubra Valley De Khama Guesthouse is a wonderful place to unwind. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by the incredibly kind and caring hosts. The rooms are spotless, very comfortable, and lovingly arranged. The highlight is the beautiful garden full of flowers, herbs, and vegetables. In the evenings, you can enjoy the most delicious homemade food, much of it prepared with fresh ingredients from the garden – and even pick fresh apricots straight from the trees. There are plenty of cozy outdoor spots to relax, plus lots of books to browse. Everything here is made with so much love and attention to detail, it truly feels like a home away from home. We left feeling deeply relaxed and can wholeheartedly recommend De Khama to anyone visiting Nubra Valley. ~ Nina L

We had a fantastic stay at De Khama right at the end of the season. The owners family and staff were amazing. Sitting on the stunning terrace in the sun in the morning for breakfast overlooking the garden with the mountains in the background was amazing. Even though we were the only guest in the hotel at the time the team cooked up a feast with almost all produce coming straight out of the vegetable garden. How they managed to grow this huge variety in the high altitude and harsh environment is astonishing. A beautiful little oasis in the Nubra Valley with amazing hospitality - highly recommend! We also enjoyed the walk through the streets of this lovely village and the drives to the Nubra Valley attractions. ~ Christian W

The moment we walked into De Khama, we were awestruck by their beautiful garden in full bloom. Countless flowers of several varieties!! Inside the guesthouse, everything was spic and span…impeccably clean. Rooms were clean and comfortable with a good view of the beautiful garden. There is a small library too, with good collection of books and reading a book in such surroundings is quite an experience. Food is prepared with love and care and is very delicious. Most of the ingredients are sourced from their farms. We had the most relaxing four night stay at De Khama and would definitely return for a longer stay. Mr. Gonbo and his family are wonderful hosts. Very courteous and caring, they took care of all our needs and preferences. Sumur is a beautiful village and we enjoyed long morning walks. There are plenty of interesting places nearby and we enjoyed our visit to Samstaling Gompa, Budha Park and the sand dunes. Highly recommended. ~ s.k. S

We got a chance to stay at De Khama last week and honestly, the experience was just toooo good! ❤️ The staff, the service, everything was so lovely. Everyone was genuinely kind, warm and so down to earth. The hospitality here is really something else. We even got to know that the owner was conducting a stargazing programme for school children and the staff suggested that we go there. When we reached, the owner personally came and told us that they had to move it to another location at the last minute. He had actually driven there himself just to make sure we knew about the change and to check if we were interested in joining them or if we would rather stay back at the Sumur Sand Dunes, which was the initial venue. These little things really make a stay memorable. You can genuinely feel that the people here care about their guests and their experience. The stay was excellent with a very positive atmosphere. The host com owner of this stay was really very humble and his hospitality was excellent. The care taker was also very much professional. The rooms were quite good. The food served was excellent ( specially the palak paneer (freshly picked palak from the home garden). This stay is pet friendly and also they made sure our pet eats and stays active. They arranged for her food(boiled chicken) upon request. De Khama is a lovely hotel tucked away in Sumoor village. I stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed the serenity and the hospitality of the owners. The food served is organically produced and the dining hall is sparkling clean. There were many bird species that I observed in their organic garden, these were - Common Rosefinch, Streak Throated Woodpecker, Mountain Chiffchaff and Hoopoe. The view of the stars and the milky way at night was also mesmerising. Would recommend De Khama to any traveller type looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay in Nubra Valley. ~ Udiyaman S

Incredibly beautiful homestay and host family. You can see the gorgeous Himalayas from your window. They grow everything in their garden that you eat in your delicious meals here. And the host family is so helpful and kind, they give you all the information and tips you need while also respecting your privacy. Sumur is a lovely village and this is the most authentic way to experience Nubra Valley. We much preferred it here to staying in Hunder / Diskit which have become too touristy. Grateful to De Khama for showing us the authentic Ladakhi experience here. We will definitely come back! ~ Kriti P

Well !!!! No words can describe the beauty of this place and the amazing family who runs this incredible homestay in Sumoor. The family who runs this place is extremely down to earth and will go an extra mile to make sure you are comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to everyone visiting Nubra Valley. You will easily get any five star property in Hunder BUT no five star can compete the amount of love and care this family gave us. We stayed here for 3N and everything was top notch. Truly a home away from Home ! I didn’t feel like leaving even after spending 5 nights here. Rigzen and Sonam are just amazing people and hosts. They deeply value the culture and have great knowledge about the area and anything to do with Ladakh. Rigzen’s parents are the kindest people you will meet and they serve with so much warmth. My heart feels full and I feel grateful I came across their homestay. The food is fresh and organic from their farm and it’s delicious. I will keep coming back and highly highly recommend. ~ Karan G

Fantastic homestay run by a retired army man and his family. Top notch hospitality. Has put a lot of attention to detail while building the place... Lights, dim lights, reusable sleepers for guests. Lady of the house prepares awesome local food served well in the dining area which again is so well thought. Everything comes from the Vegetable garden in front and their dairy farm. They do everything with their complete hearts. Will certainly go again just for the experience with tranquility. ~ Sandeep B

The best stay I've had during my trip to Ladakh! The house was lovely and beautiful, the room was super clean and comfortable. The food was amazing, I had 4 plates that night. But the best thing about De Khama is definitely the owner's hospitality and warmth! They were such lovely and helpful people. My sister had car sick on the way there and they tried their best to help us. I'm forever grateful and wishes we could've stayed at De Khama for a bit longer ❤️ ~ Hà L

If you are looking for a deeper connection with yourself, nature and the people… I suggest De Khama. A place where you can enjoy a feel of home, understanding agriculture, experiencing “farm to table” food and being under the starry night! Walking up to the monastery or around the village is your way of keeping your fitness routine intact. Seeing the hosts working in the field is an inspiration. Visited in Aug 2026 The stay is beautiful in every possible way and so is the family who runs it, warm and friendly and always with a smile on. Kitchen staff cooks variety of delicious meals with homegrown vegetables. I will happily recommend this stay to anyone visiting Nubra.
